Members of the CDKC believe that obedience training is important to having a well behaved dog. The club offers Fall, Winter, and Spring sessions of Obedience classes which run from Puppy Kindergarten to advanced trial training. Training is done at the Gladstone Public School [across from the Hotel Dieu Hospital].

Our instructors participate in CKC trials, obedience seminars, sanction matches and fun matches in the Ottawa and Monteal regions. The club offers all levels form Puppy kindegarten to Utility. Beginners classes and Puppy kindergarten are offered Monday evenings and the competitive obedience classes are offered on Wednesday evenigns. There are 3 instructors:

• Pat Carpenter teaches Puppy kindergarten and Beginners classes.
• Pierre Julien teaches Beginners and Advanced Beginners classes.
• Gary Thomas teaches competitive obedience classes [Utility, Open, and Novice classes]

Puppy Kindergarten is for young puppies between 3 to 6 months of age. Puppies are exposed to a wide variety of objects, sounds and activities as well as being socialized with other puppies and people. The basic commands: sit, heel, come and down are taught in a supportive environment with all dogs on leash.

Beginners and Advance Beginners are for more mature dogs and teach basic commands. Advanced Begiiners should be able to complete the requirements of the CKC's Canine Good citizenship test.

Competive classses are for those handler/dog teams wishing to compete at CKC sanctioned obedience trials.

Cornwall District Kennel Club also holds four Obedience trials at the annual dog show on Labour Day weekend.

Some of our Obedience people and their canine companions actively participate in the St. John Ambulance Therapy Dog visitations.

We and our "best friends" are also available to accept requests for other community events.
